I think the title about sums it up – black and white. Not every composition needs color, and sometimes color makes an image too busy.

A lot of young artists overlook the importance of being able to work in monochrome first. Everyone wants to skip right to color, but an image that doesn’t work in black and white probably still won’t work when color is added.


Sometimes it’s nice to keep it simple and focus on the values and composition of a piece alone.
